Vikings Stand Together Against Bullying and Harassment!
Valley Middle school is committed to providing a safe, comfortable learning environment for all students. Bullying and harassment incidents can be reported to a trusted staff member at Valley or you may use our Bullying and Harassment Reporting Form.
Please be mindful of your use of the following terms as you consider reporting an incident:
Rude - Inadvertently saying or doing something that hurts someone else.
Mean - Purposefully saying or doing something to hurt someone once (or maybe twice).
Bullying - Intentionally aggressive behavior, repeated over time, that involves an imbalance of power. This can include verbal, physical or written electronic communication against another.
Cyberbullying - The use of electronic communication to harm or harass others in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner.
Harassment - Includes actual or perceived negative actions that often, ridicule, or demean another individual with regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, religion.
Intimidation - Subjecting an individual to intentional action that seriously threatens and induces a sense of fear and/or inferiority.
After reading the above definitions, if you suspect that bullying has occurred, report it by filling out the online Bullying and Harassment Reporting Forn.
Students are strongly encouraged to make an oral or written report to a teacher, staff member, or administrator whenever they feel that they or another student has been bullied.
All bullying complaints will be investigated and resolved by the Principal or designee.
State law and District regulations protect anyone who reports bullying or who participates in a bullying investigation from retaliation.
Anyone who is reporting a cyberbullying complaint should save and print any electronic or digital messages sent to them. These messages should be provided to the Principal or designee investigating the complaint.
Additional information on Bullying and Intimidation may be found in the Carlsbad Unified School District K-12 Student Handbook.
