***6th Grade Camp***

Hello Viking 6th Grade Families,

Our students will be going to Cuyamaca Outdoor School on September 21st. 

We need the pink health forms turned in to the office or your child's 6th-grade science teacher no later than Friday, September 4th.  

Please review this presentation, the camp FAQs, and Student Packing List  to learn more about Cuyamaca Outdoor School. Students do have time to play after lunch. Camp does have equipment for them, but we can always use more. If you would like to donate balls or a wiffle ball set, please deliver them to the front office.  

Below are answers to questions asked during our Q&A meeting

What are the shower arrangements? 

There are individual shower stalls with curtains for privacy. The students take showers Tuesday through Thursday in the afternoon. The showers are two minutes long. Yes, only two minutes long! We recommend you have your child practice taking short showers and changing their clothes discreetly (e.g., like at the beach, under a big towel) before arriving at camp. 

Do the cabins have air conditioning?

The cabins do not have air conditioning. The cabins remain reasonably comfortable thanks to their brick construction, shaded locations, fans in every room, and cooler mountain temperatures, especially in the evenings.

Are there water filling stations at camp?

Yes, we have water filling stations available on campus. Students should bring a reusable water bottle and can refill it throughout their stay. There are water-filling stations in the cabins, and we encourage students to drink water at every meal.

Is bug spray permitted at camp? 

Bug spray is NOT permitted. Bug wipes and bug lotion are fine if families prefer those options. We recommend that students apply any products themselves and label them with their name.
